Following a dramatic final day at Emirates Golf Club, Rory McIlroy won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic for the first time in his career. With four Major Championships, four Harry Vardon Trophies and three FedEx Cups to his name, the World Number One arrived in the UAE still lacking a victory in a DP World Tour event of distinction.
With birdies at the 17th and 18th, he finished at 19 under, one clear of American Patrick Reed, on Monday over the Majlis Course. Over the back nine, Reed and McIlroy competed toe-to-toe, but it was McIlroy who emerged victorious to move to second in the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex.
